The Series

The Ontario Kayak Fishing Series originated as one event in 2009 called the Ontario Kayak Fishing Classic.  Based on the success of that two day tournament, the Series was born and has now become several events spread from spring to fall.  The events have been single day and two day in duration.

The series features fishing in many demographics ranging from all regions of the province to give anglers a good taste of the different fishing available.  Past events have covered Near North lakes, Central Ontario lakes, the Great Lakes, St Lawrence River Eastern Ontario, and Southern Ontario rivers & inland lakes. There are currently two mainstay events to the series; Haliburton and South River.  Both locations have proven to be excellent venues for our events.

Another attraction to the series is that all events are multi-species.  A target species is identified as the points qualifier, and then other fish are awarded cash and prizes based on the largest single fish of that species.

Past fish include Largemouth Bass, Muskie, Northern Pike, Smallmouth Bass and Walleye.

Many folks choose to enter the Cash Pot side derby where a $50 dollar donation by Nomad Adventures kicks it off.  Cost is $10 per person and winner takes all.

OKFS format enables its competitors use their finishes, based on points accumulation, to be applied toward the final standing for the Grand Prize.  Each individual event offers prizes to be awarded to the top three finishes, with first place being a new fishing kayak for each individual event.  The Grand Prize is a Hobie mirage drive fishing kayak. Please go to the current year tab to view this seasons' format and individual event details.
